"Southern Philippines Landslide Claims 54 Lives"

The death toll from a landslide in the southern Philippines has risen to 54, with 63 people still missing, as heavy rain and mud hamper rescue efforts. The landslide hit the mountain village of Masara in Davao de Oro province, burying an 8.9-hectare section of the community. Despite ongoing rescue operations, the chances of finding survivors are slim, and more than 1,100 families have been moved to evacuation centers due to the ongoing threat of landslides and floods in the region.
