Lukashenko has been the subject of speculation about his health since appearing unsteady on his feet at Victory Day celebrations earlier this month. Tsepkalo rejected the Belarusian government's attempts to downplay concerns around Lukashenko's health, calling it an attempt to save the Kremlin from blame over its "alleged involvement in his poisoning". Lukashenko is a close ally of Putin and has ruled Belarus since 1994.
