Germany has unveiled its first comprehensive national security strategy, identifying Russia as the greatest security threat "for the foreseeable future" and advocating a balanced approach to China. The 76-page document outlines the country's general approach to address growing military, economic, and social risks, including those posed by climate change. The strategy has gained added importance since Russia attacked Ukraine almost 16 months ago. The government has resisted calls for military spending to go above the NATO-wide goal of 2% of GDP.
