Imran Khan warns of imminent disaster and accuses government and army of fear tactics.

Imran Khan, leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has accused the ruling coalition and military of cracking down on him and his party to prevent him from contesting the upcoming general election. Khan claims that over 100 cases have been filed against him to keep him away from the electoral process. The government has blamed Khan’s supporters for arson and violence, allegations he denies. Pakistan is due to hold a general election by October, prior to which the current regime will be dissolved and a caretaker government set up in order to conduct the polls.
