International Community Condemns Israel's Actions on West Bank Settlements

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clarified that his government has no plans to build new settlements in the northern West Bank after the US criticized legislation by the Knesset that allows resettlement of evacuated areas. The new legislation rolled back clauses of the 2005 Disengagement Law that banned Israelis from the area where the settlements of Homesh, Ganim, Kadim and Sa-Nur once stood. The US State Department summoned Israeli Ambassador Mike Herzog for clarifications on the repeal of part of the Disengagement Law, marking the first time in over a decade that an Israeli envoy in Washington has faced such a summons.
