Iran pardons 22,000 anti-government protesters.

Iranian judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei announced that 22,000 people who participated in anti-government protests have been pardoned, bringing the total number of pardons to 82,000. The pardons were granted over an unspecified period and it is unclear if or when the people had been charged. The protests began after the death of a young Iranian Kurdish woman in the custody of the country's morality police last September and have marked one of the boldest challenges to the Islamic Republic since the 1979 revolution.
