Iranian Foreign Minister Attends BRICS Ministerial Meeting.

Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has left Tehran to attend a meeting of the top diplomats of the BRICS group in Cape Town, South Africa. Iran has submitted a formal application to join the bloc, which consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Russia and China have welcomed Iran's application and the group's expansion to include international powerhouses. The BRICS countries represent one-fifth of the global economy and around half of the world's population. Amir-Abdollahian stated that active participation in international societies is part of Iran's balanced foreign policy.
