Israeli authorities demolished a Palestinian school in the occupied West Bank, claiming it was constructed illegally and was dangerous. The European Union condemned the demolition, calling it illegal under international law and stating that it would affect 60 Palestinian children. Witnesses said the contents of the building had been confiscated. Israel has often cited a lack of building permits, which Palestinians and rights groups say are nearly impossible to obtain, in destroying Palestinian structures in the occupied West Bank. The Palestinian Authority’s education ministry called the demolition a “heinous crime”.
