Italy's State of Emergency: Addressing the Central Mediterranean Migrant Crisis.

Italy has declared a state of emergency due to the sharp rise in the number of migrants arriving on its shores through the Mediterranean route. The state of emergency will last for six months and initial funding of 5 million euros will be used to create new structures for sheltering, processing, and repatriating migrants who don't have the requisites to stay. Italy is currently trying to pass a series of policies targeting migrants, including measures to speed up the process of identifying and processing individuals who don't qualify to stay in Italy. Italy has called for a European-wide solution to the problem of migration.
