Japan's Military Prepared to Intercept North Korean Threats

Japan's Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada has instructed the military to prepare for the potential destruction of ballistic missiles, including North Korea's spy satellite rocket, which is set to launch soon. The Japanese Self Defense Forces have been put on alert for any debris from the rocket falling into Japanese territory, and the military will deploy ground-based Patriot Advanced Capability-3 interceptor missiles and Aegis-equipped destroyer warships carrying sea-based Standard Missile-3 interceptor projectiles. North Korea claims the satellite is for military reconnaissance purposes, but Japan is prepared to shoot it down if necessary.
