Kyiv Fires Deputy Defense Minister Amid Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Ukraine's cabinet has dismissed Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar and six other top officials in the Defense Ministry, following the ousting of defense chief Oleksii Reznikov earlier this month. President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to address the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York and lobby for more support for Ukraine. He will also visit Washington to push for $24 billion in additional aid from Congress. In other developments, a damaged drone carrying explosives was found in Bulgaria, believed to be related to the war in Ukraine, and Ukraine's air force claimed to have downed 17 cruise missiles and intercepted 18 Iranian-made drones launched by Russia.
