Latvia's Prime Minister Steps Down: Resignation Announcement

Karins' centre-right New Unity party won a national election in October 2022 but faced challenges in maintaining a parliamentary majority due to disagreements with coalition partners. The resignation comes after failed attempts to form a joint candidate for the presidential election and bring more parties into the government. The New Unity party plans to select a new candidate for prime minister, and President Edgars Rinkevics will be responsible for giving a mandate to form a new government.
