Mass Expulsion of German Government Employees from Russia

Russia has decided to expel hundreds of German employees from the education and cultural sectors, including teachers at the German school in Moscow and staff at the Goethe Institute cultural association, from the start of June. The move follows tit-for-tat expulsions of diplomats and increasingly strained relations between Russia and Germany. The German foreign ministry has called the decision "unilateral, unjustified and incomprehensible" and is concerned with ensuring a minimum presence of intermediaries in Russia while maintaining a diplomatic presence.
