Massive Protests Erupt in Israel Over Proposed Judicial Overhaul

Hundreds of thousands of Israelis participated in nationwide protests for the 12th consecutive week against the government's plans to overhaul the judicial system. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called for the legislative push to be halted until after Passover and several holidays next month to allow for talks on judicial reform. Protest organizers claimed that over 630,000 people attended the rallies. The government aims to weaken the court's ability to serve as a check on parliament and give the government control over the appointment of judges.
