Moldova Urges Swift EU Membership to Counter Russian Threat

Moldova's President Maia Sandu has urged the EU to let the country into the bloc "as soon as possible" to better protect it against rising Russian threats. Moldova has accused Moscow of trying to destabilize it over its pro-Western path and support of Ukraine, warning of hybrid warfare and "saboteurs" sent to stoke unrest. Sandu hopes for a decision to start EU accession negotiations "in the next months" and believes that Russia will "continue to be a big source of instability for the years to come."
