Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic has dissolved parliament after the prime minister-designate failed to form a government, just days before a presidential election. The move comes amid political turmoil in the country since the 2020 parliamentary elections, which saw Djukanovic's party suffer a historic defeat. Djukanovic, who has held high-ranking political posts in Montenegro for the past 30 years, is one of seven candidates in the presidential race. The country of 620,000 people, a third of whom identify as Serbs, is a NATO member and aspires to join the European Union.
