Navalny Anticipates Prolonged Imprisonment Under Putin's Regime

Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny expects his prison sentence to be extended by nearly two decades on Friday, in a case he and his supporters believe is politically motivated. Navalny, who is already serving 11-1/2 years on fraud charges, faces an additional 20 years in a penal colony on six separate criminal charges, including inciting and financing extremist activity. The charges are related to his role in his now banned political movement. Navalny urged Russians not to be frightened and to resist the "villains and thieves in the Kremlin."
