North Korea's Missile and Spy Satellite Launches Raise Regional Concerns.

Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, has promised more satellite launches after the country's first military spy satellite launch ended in failure. She condemned the US for criticizing the launch and said it was North Korea's sovereign right to acquire space-based reconnaissance capabilities. The launch was swiftly condemned by South Korea, Tokyo, and Washington, which noted the use of banned ballistic missile technology. North Korea said it would conduct a second launch after analyzing what went wrong. Pyongyang has conducted more than 100 weapons tests since January 2022 as it moves to modernize its military arsenal.
