Racist Chants and Violence Mar Jerusalem Day March.

Thousands of Israeli nationalists, some chanting racist slogans, marched through Jerusalem's Old City to celebrate Israel's capture of East Jerusalem in 1967. The event became a day of humiliation for Palestinians living under occupation. Authorities barred Palestinians from entering most of the gates into the Old City. One group of marchers threw rocks and bottles at members of the press covering the event, wounding three journalists. Palestinians view East Jerusalem as their future capital, while Israel illegally annexed it after the 1967 war and considers it part of its "eternal undivided capital".
