Russia's Global Leadership Approval Plummets in 2022

A new Gallup poll shows that global approval of Russia's leadership has significantly decreased following the country's invasion of Ukraine, with a median of 21% of respondents from 137 countries approving of Russia's leadership, while 57% disapprove. Disapproval ratings jumped by more than 40 points in two former Soviet countries, Lithuania and Romania, as well as Taiwan. The US, Canada, and 10 European countries have the highest disapproval ratings of Moscow, with more than 90% disapproving. Latin America and the Caribbean saw the largest shift toward disapproval of Moscow, while sub-Saharan Africa had much less of a shift toward disapproval than other regions.
