Sunak: China's Global Security Threat

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called China the “biggest challenge of our age to global security and prosperity” at the G7 summit in Japan, citing the country’s increasing authoritarianism at home and assertiveness abroad. While he did not call for a “de-coupling” of China and the West, Sunak said he would support the “de-risking” of tensions between China and other countries. G7 leaders have also urged China to pressure Russia to end its war with Ukraine, with relations between Russia and China growing closer as tensions between the US and China have heightened.
