Taiwan advocates for democracy and political freedom amidst Tiananmen anniversary and Hong Kong crisis.

Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council has urged China to embrace democracy and protect human rights, ahead of the 34th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests. The council said that the Chinese Communist Party regime was still unable to face the facts of its brutal crackdown on protesters demanding political reform. The MAC also called on China to renounce the use of coercive means against Taiwan and settle disputes through peaceful means.
