Turkey Overcomes Opposition and Approves Finland's NATO Membership

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that his government will begin ratifying Finland's bid to become a NATO member, paving the way for the country to join the security alliance after months of delays. Erdogan had previously opposed Finland and Sweden's applications, accusing them of housing Kurdish "terrorist organizations." However, he has now given his blessing to Finland's membership, removing the major obstacle to its accession. Hungary's ruling party has also said it will approve Finland's accession, while Turkey remains opposed to Sweden's bid unless "positive steps" are taken.
