Turkey to Ratify Finland's NATO Membership Bid Ahead of May Polls

Turkish President Erdogan has hinted that Turkey may soon ratify Finland's application to join NATO, allowing the country to join the military alliance separately from Sweden. All 30 NATO members have approved Finland and Sweden's applications, but only Turkey and Hungary have yet to ratify their accession. Erdogan has accused Sweden of being too soft on groups it considers to be "terror" organisations and existential threats, including Kurdish groups. However, Ankara has fewer problems with Finland's membership. The United States and other NATO countries are hoping the two Nordic nations will become members of the alliance at a NATO summit due to be held in July.
