Turkish diaspora in Germany shows strong support for Erdogan in critical election.

Turkish citizens living in Germany, which has the largest Turkish diaspora, can cast their ballots in the upcoming general election between April 27 and May 9. While Erdogan and his Justice and Development party (AKP) would enjoy a decisive victory if the election took place in Germany, his challenger Kemal Kilicdaroglu of the social-democratic and Kemalist Republican People's Party (CHP) has widespread political and societal support in Turkey. Despite criticism of their contradictory preferences, many Turks in Germany vote for the AKP as they feel excluded by German political parties and appreciate Erdogan's efforts to improve services for Turkish citizens living abroad.
