Ukraine's NATO Membership: Hopes, Support, and Baiting from Russia.

The US believes Ukraine will have its own path to gaining membership in NATO, following Sweden's steps towards acceding to the Alliance. The Pentagon spokesperson reiterated NATO's "open-door policy" towards nations willing to become part of the Alliance. The focus is currently on providing Ukraine with what it needs on the battlefield, with security packages being rolled out every week or so. NATO plans to invite Ukraine into a new NATO-Ukraine Defense Council as an equal member, while shaping a path to bring Ukraine closer to NATO membership.
