Xi supports South Africa's role in African peace talks and BRICS summit.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has briefed Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the African peace plan proposed by China to end hostilities between Russia and Ukraine. The peace plan is also backed by the leaders of Senegal, Uganda, Egypt, the Republic of the Congo, and Zambia. Ramaphosa also discussed the upcoming BRICS summit with Xi, which South Africa is hosting in August and is considering legal options if Russian President Vladimir Putin attends due to a war crimes arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court related to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
