Yoghurt attacks on unveiled women spark controversy in Iran.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has stated that the hijab is the law in Iran, following a viral video of a man throwing yogurt at two unveiled women in a shop. Despite nationwide protests and growing numbers of women discarding their veils, risking arrest, women are still widely seen unveiled in malls, restaurants, shops, and streets around the country. The judiciary has threatened to prosecute women who appear in public unveiled, and citizens have been urged to confront them. Under Iran's Islamic sharia law, women are obliged to cover their hair and wear long, loose-fitting clothes.
