New Endangered Giant Spider Species Discovered in Queensland, Australia

A new and rare species of spider, Euoplos dignita, has been discovered in Queensland, Australia, and is in need of protection due to habitat destruction. The tarantula-like spider was first discovered in the early 20th century but remained undescribed and unnamed until recently due to a lack of research. The discovery of a male specimen was crucial for identifying and naming the species. Females can grow up to 2 inches long, and males have a striking honey-red carapace and legs. The natural range of the species is small and highly fragmented, and only one living specimen has been found so far.
