"Elon Musk's crude joke prompts CBC to pause Twitter use over 'government-funded media' tag"
TL;DR
Twitter tagged CBC as "government-funded media," prompting the broadcaster to pause all Twitter usage. Elon Musk made a crude joke about the situation. National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting Service in the US also left Twitter after being tagged as "state-affiliated media" and "government-funded," respectively. CBC spokesperson Leon Mar emphasized that the Canadian government does not influence CBC's content or editorial judgement, and that its editorial independence is protected by law.
