"Massive Child Sexual Abuse by Spanish Clergy Revealed in Shocking Report"

A report commissioned by Spain's human rights ombudsman revealed that more than one in 200 Spaniards, or approximately 200,000 people, claim to have been sexually abused by the Catholic Church when they were minors. The figure rises to 400,000 people, or 1.13% of the adult population, when including alleged abuse by lay people. The report also called for the establishment of a state fund to compensate survivors, and Spain's acting Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez described the release of the report as a "milestone" in the country's history.
