Beijing tightens drone controls with citywide possession ban and buyback subsidies

Beijing announced a citywide ban on possessing drones within its limits, effective Nov. 15, as it tightens drone rules after a May sales ban and a fatal June crash; authorities will confiscate noncompliant drones and impose fines, with subsidies available to resell or recycle existing devices, while drone flights remain allowed outside the city under registration rules and imports by tourists are restricted.
