UK, Rolls-Royce and JAEA sign trilateral pact to fast-track advanced modular reactors

Rolls-Royce, the UK National Nuclear Laboratory (UKNNL) and Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) signed two trilateral Memorandums of Cooperation to accelerate the UK’s deployment of High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Advanced Modular Reactor (AMR) technology and the next-generation Coated Particle Fuel (CPF). The agreement builds on existing partnerships, aims to boost energy security and decarbonisation, and support industrial growth, with a signing ceremony at Downing Street during a visit by Japan’s prime minister underscoring the joint commitment to UK‑Japan nuclear collaboration.
