At least 78 people were killed and 73 others injured in a stampede during an event to distribute financial aid in Yemen's capital, Sanaa. Witnesses said the crowd was spooked by gunfire and an electrical explosion caused by armed Houthis firing into the air. The event was organised by merchants and the distribution of funds was done without coordination with local authorities. Yemen has been in the grip of a humanitarian crisis, with more than 21 million people needing help and protection, according to the UN.
