Wildfire smoke causes hazardous air quality in Chicago and London, Ont.

An air quality alert has been issued for parts of the Great Lakes, Lower Mississippi, and Ohio valleys due to smoke from Canadian wildfires that is expected to cause a hazy sky over Chicago and its surrounding areas. The air quality in Chicago is currently listed as "unhealthy," and people are advised to limit prolonged outdoor activities. Severe thunderstorms and excessive rainfall are also possible in the region. Additionally, a beach hazard warning has been issued for northern and central Cook County due to high waves, and high swim risks are expected at Lake Michigan shore.
