Iranian Women Arrested for Not Wearing Hijab After Yoghurt Attack

Two women in Iran were arrested for not covering their hair in public after being attacked with yoghurt by a man. The man was also arrested for disturbing public order. Not wearing the hijab in public is illegal for women in Iran, but many walk around without it despite the rules. Protests demanding an end to the compulsory wearing of the hijab have been ongoing in the country for months, with thousands arrested and four protesters executed since December. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi reiterated that Iranian women should wear the hijab as a "religious necessity."
