Hospitals are overwhelmed, and the situation is exacerbated by a lack of clean water and electricity. The ongoing siege makes it nearly impossible to evacuate the wounded for better care, leading to an "amputee crisis" in the region. Prior to the current conflict, Gaza was already struggling with a high rate of disabilities among children and limited access to prosthetic care. The situation is described as "unimaginable" and is expected to worsen as more children with severe injuries may require amputations.
