British Survivor Recounts Narrow Escape as Spain Wildfire Claims Neighbours
TL;DR
British man Malcolm Timbrell, 70, survived a fast-moving wildfire in Bedar, Spain, after fleeing with his wife and neighbours by car; he briefly returned for their cats and sheltered in a car as flames swept the area, while eight bodies were found nearby and four more victims are believed to be British. Authorities say the blaze, driven by strong winds and dry conditions, is among Spain’s deadliest, with DNA testing pending and the community rallying around the survivor.
