Kono, architect of wartime apology for 'comfort women,' dies at 89

Former Japanese politician Yohei Kono, the long-time public figure who delivered the landmark 1993 Kono Statement apologizing for wartime sexual slavery and who served as Chief Cabinet Secretary, has died at age 89.
