Gwinnett mom granted brief goodbye in hot-car death case
A Gwinnett County mother, Deja Coleman, 29, who is charged in the hot-car death of her 1-year-old son, Daniel Coleman Jr., was allowed to leave jail briefly to say goodbye at a mortuary. Wearing prison garb with handcuffs and shackles, she spent about 45 minutes alone with a photo in the room, according to her attorney. The family was staying in a domestic violence shelter at the time, and authorities say the boy was teething the night of July 28 when he died after being left in a car while Coleman worked a hospital shift.
