Mac mini M6 and M5 Pro Enable 165Hz External Display Support
Apple’s new Mac mini models, the M6 and M5 Pro, expand external display support to higher refresh rates: the M6 can drive two displays at up to 6K60 or 4K165, plus a third display at 5K60/4K60 over HDMI; the M5 Pro can run all three displays at up to 6K60 or 4K165, with the second monitor in a two-display setup supporting 5K120 or 4K200. The M5 Pro handles all three displays through a single Thunderbolt port, while the M6 supports two displays per port. Single-display output remains 8K60, 5K120, or 4K240. Portwise, the M6 uses Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 1.4, and the M5 Pro uses Thunderbolt 5 with DisplayPort 2.1. Pre-orders are open now with shipping starting September 22.
