Judge delays Libyan suspect’s Pan Am 103 bombing trial amid new evidence
A judge postponed the trial of Libyan suspect Al-Marimi in the 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 bombing after new evidence emerged. He is charged with two counts of destruction of an aircraft resulting in death and faces life in prison if convicted. Prosecutors say the attack was directed by Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. Previously, two other Libyan intelligence agents were tried in the Netherlands. Some victims’ relatives were already traveling to attend the hearing when the delay was announced, as authorities pursue more facts.
