VW Unveils Europe-Only Electric Polo GTI, US Sales a Long Shot
Volkswagen has unveiled the ID Polo GTI, its first electric GTI for Europe. The front-wheel-drive hatch delivers 222 hp from an electric motor, uses a 52 kWh battery with a WLTP range of 236 miles, and supports DC fast charging up to 105 kW (10–80% in about 24 minutes). Priced around €39,000 in Germany, the car is unlikely to be exported to the US due to its range and price relative to rivals; production is nearing readiness.
