Pennsylvania Alerts 700,000 Medicaid Enrollees About New Work Rules
Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services has begun mailing notices to more than 700,000 adults in the Medicaid expansion population about new federal work requirements that could require 80 hours of work or volunteering per month to keep coverage after January, with possible exemptions. The state and Philadelphia agencies are coordinating outreach and support through partnerships with nonprofits and city departments to help residents renew eligibility and access resources, amid estimates that 73,000–90,000 Philadelphians could lose Medicaid next year and that coverage gaps may stress emergency and public health services.
