American Airlines to Eliminate Premium First Class with Timeline Revealed
American Airlines will phase out its premium first-class cabins on the 777-300ER by November 19, 2026 and on the A321T by March 28, 2027; fleets are being reconfigured so remaining first-class seats become part of the business class, with 777-300ERs getting new business-class cabins and A321Ts moving to the A321XLR for premium transcon routes, and all physical first-class seating slated for removal by late 2027. Flagship Dining will be transformed into a business-class dining offering. The author views the changes as not a major loss given the weak investment in AA’s original first-class product, in favor of an improved overall business-class experience.
