Netflix is cracking down on password sharing in the US and UK, with account holders on the Standard and Premium plans having the option to add one or two people outside their household respectively, but at an extra cost of $7.99 per person per month. Account holders on the Basic or Standard with adverts plans don't have the option to add out-of-household members. Netflix has been testing the new sharing restrictions in Canada, New Zealand, Spain, and Portugal since the beginning of the year, and said in April that it was "pleased with the results."
Netflix has launched its password-sharing crackdown in the United States, asking anyone sharing their Netflix account login with family members or friends who don’t live at the same address to pay an extra $7.99 a month for each additional person. The company started sending out emails to people it determined are breaking the rules and will continue to roll them out to primary account holders in the coming days. People who are using an account on the go will need to login from the primarily address once every 31 days to avoid being flagged.
