Devastating Flooding Triggers State of Emergency in Adirondack Town
The Adirondack town of Long Lake, along with neighboring towns Newcomb and Blue Mountain Lake, has declared a state of emergency due to severe flooding caused by heavy rain. Homes, roads, dams, and bridges have been destroyed, leading to evacuations and non-essential travel restrictions. The spillway dam on Jennings Park Pond breached, causing extensive damage and draining the pond. Route 28N is closed, and the bridge over Fishing Brook has washed out. Local residents are assisting each other, while tourist attractions remain closed. Drivers are warned not to drive on flooded roads, and emergency assistance can be requested by calling 911.
