Wes Anderson's 'Asteroid City': Stylish but Inert Sci-Fi Film.
Wes Anderson's latest film, Asteroid City, is a metatextual collection of doodles and famous actors that refuses to yield to a narrative shape. The film is simultaneously furiously busy and curiously uneventful, with interesting self-reflexive ideas feeling underdeveloped. However, it is an aesthetic triumph, a gorgeous gallimaufry of artefacts from the golden age of American technocracy, Looney Toons and westerns.
