Motorola devices hijack shopping apps to pocket affiliate commissions
Motorola smartphones are reportedly preinstalled with a hidden Smart Feed app that detects when you open a shopping app (like Amazon) and redirects you through a browser containing an affiliate link, enabling Motorola to earn commissions on purchases. The behavior, verified by 9to5Google, does not raise prices but collects user data and may violate affiliate-program terms; the feature can be disabled in device settings. Motorola has not publicly commented.
