Tragic Oregon Plane Crash Claims Lives of Afghan Army Pilots and Refugees
Three Afghan Army pilots, who had been evacuated from Afghanistan after the U.S. withdrawal in 2021, died in a plane crash near Salem, Oregon. The pilots, identified as Mohammad Hussain Musawi, Mohammad Bashir Safdari, and Ali Jan Ferdawsi, were working to bring their families to the U.S. and had settled in Oregon as refugees. They were part of a pilot training program sponsored by Salem For Refugees and were pursuing their dream of obtaining commercial pilot licenses. The cause of the crash is under investigation. The community is devastated, and a GoFundMe has been set up to support the families and cover funeral expenses.
